The Company is a world leader in the design and manufacture of meters and associated systems for the electricity, gas, water and heat markets. Our innovative products and systems integrate the latest technologies to meet the evolving needs of public or private energy and water suppliers, utility services and industrial companies.
They are recruiting for a software engineer to join the a which deals the new and existing designs of electronic meters and Payment devices foe electricity/gas utilities for manufacture in high volume

You will be required to take part in all aspects of the design development cycle from interpreting requirement specifications, through design and manufacturing introduction, to design sustaining.

ROLE
Produce designs including data flow diagrams, state transition diagrams, use case analysis, pseudo-code, UML / OO and flow charts as appropriate.
Write embedded C and Java/C++ source code to company standards with consideration for code space, RAM usage and execution time.
Formally unit test source code written by other firmware engineers, producing unit test plans and recording the test results.
Perform fault finding, debugging and fault fix verification, ensuring the fault resolution does not introduce further faults and using the concern and corrective action procedure.
Perform product and regression testing, formally recording the test results.
Define microprocessor selection criteria and perform microprocessor suitability analysis.
Perform and review stress testing, performance testing, stack and bandwidth analysis.
Training and mentoring of other engineers.

Skills
Coding in ‘C’ and Java/C++ languages.
UML detailed design & Object Oriented Design.
Real Time Operating System experience.
Work within an ISO9000 environment.
Logical and methodical approach to fault finding.
Experience of using emulators for real time firmware development.
Knowledge of electronics.

Degree or equivalent in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or closely related subject.
